According to the consulting company Colliers, the capital of Spain has become the main tourist artery of the country

In 2022, Madrid registered a total of 8.6 million visitors, compared to 7.3 million tourists in Barcelona. Since the beginning of this year, 33 new hotel projects have been announced in the capital of Spain (there are only 13 similar complexes in Barcelona). The Colliers study also shows that hotel supply in Madrid increased by 3.3% in 2022 based on the availability of hotel beds. The majority of places are represented by four-star hotels (57.9%).

Company experts believe that the hotel business’ interest in Madrid will continue in 2023 and 2024. For example, new properties have already opened in the luxury segment thanks to the arrival of Thompson Madrid from the international chain Hyatt and JW Marriot Hotel Madrid.
