For the whole of 2022, about 547 million overnight stays in short-term rental properties were recorded in the European Union, which were booked through online platforms


This means that there has been a strong recovery compared to 2021 (an increase of +50% compared to 2021, when 364 million nights were recorded). The increase compared to 2019 was +7%.

Last year, significant increases in the number of nights compared to 2019 were noted in Sweden (+33%), France (+31%) and Belgium (+23%). However, 14 EU countries are still behind the 2019 level. The most noticeable decrease was recorded in the Czech Republic (-36%), Hungary (-27%), Ireland and Estonia (-23% each).

The most popular regions for short-term rentals booked through online platforms were Jadranska Hrvatska in Croatia (20 million nights), the French region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (11 million) and the Spanish region of Andalusia (10 million nights).
