In the first quarter of this year, the median price of transactions in Lisbon involving foreigners was 72% higher than the price of transactions with citizens. At the same time, housing prices in Portugal have been declining for three quarters in a row. But in large locations, and especially in the Central Alentejo region, demand from foreign buyers continues unabated.
In Lisbon, the average price per square meter of housing in transactions involving foreign capital was 71.8% higher than the price in transactions with local residents. In Porto this figure was 70.2%. In Central Alentejo, this difference was 2.5 times higher in favor of foreigners.
