Greece has very high hotel occupancy rates

This summer, despite serious increases in booking prices, the country’s hotels were often 90% occupied. According to data for May-August 2023, Greece’s tourism sector is aiming for a new record: revenue from overnight stays should reach 20 billion euros with the number of arrivals in the region of 35 million.

The performance of 4 and 5 star hotels, especially large luxury properties, is most remarkable. This year the average price is 15% higher. For example, in August, the average price for seasonal hotel rooms was 153 euros compared to last year’s 133 euros. This is the average rate for the current year for both seasonal and year-round hotels. But luxury hotels in popular locations were full even at prices that were 10 times higher than average.
