Greek authorities are seeking to streamline the short-term rental housing market

The main task is to differentiate between owners: to separate small owners who rent out apartments, usually to travelers, from large investors who own several properties and determine the vector of market development. One of the proposals involves exemption from VAT on rentals for individuals who have already registered their property by receiving a special number on the AADE platform.

The planned changes should, at a minimum, create a more harmonious taxation system and bring to the surface those owners who are still in the “gray zone”. This will help improve the situation of all market participants who apply for rental housing: tourists, local residents, students.
