In France, they are again talking about restrictions on the short-term rental housing market

The French Parliament announced an initiative to combat regulation of the short-term rental market, aimed primarily at limiting the actions of such online platforms as Airbnb and Booking. Lawmakers point to the critical situation in the Basque Country, a major tourist destination, and in the heart of Paris, implying a sharp rise in rental prices due to high tourism demand.

To direct the market focus towards long-term rentals, lawmakers want to reduce the number of overnight stays allowed for short-term rentals by 25% – from the current 120 to 90. The National Union for Holiday Rentals (UNPLV) has already reacted quite negatively to the new initiatives of lawmakers.
