Mostly foreign buyers purchase houses using loans in Lisbon, Faro and Porto. According to Idealista, 18.9% of total searches come from the Portuguese capital, followed by Faro and Porto with 13.9% and 13.1% respectively. In the interior regions of the country, such purchases drop significantly. In areas such as Bragança, Guarda, Portalegre, Évora and Vila Real, the number of requests is less than 1%.

In the three indicated locations, non-residents tend to buy more expensive housing (as a rule, no less than 230,000 euros per property). This is where expensive housing loans are also in demand (172-188 thousand euros).
