Just under 125,000 tourists visited Malta in January


The number of visitors and their total spending exceeded pre-pandemic levels. In January, 136,167 foreign visitors visited Malta. Of these, 124,151 people came on vacation, and 7,764 people came on business. In total, they spent just over a million nights in the country (1,031,718). By comparison, in January 2019, Malta welcomed 127,723 tourists who spent a total of €84.7 million, or €92.8 per night. Visitors aged 25-44 years made up the largest share of tourist arrivals (41.1%), followed by those in the 45-65 age group (31.2%). According to NSO, residents of Italy, the UK and Poland accounted for 42.2% of the total number of guests arriving in Malta.
