Rental prices hit historic highs in Switzerland

Nationwide, it rose by an average of 2.6% in the 12 months to March 2022. The real estate index rose to 120.2 points, reaching a record high. Until February 2023, the Swiss real estate market enjoyed some stability, but since February, rental prices have increased significantly in 18 of the country’s 26 cantons.

Between March 2022 and March 2023, rental prices decreased only in Zug (by 2%). All other cantons saw an increase in rents. In Glarus, Valais and Appenzell the annual growth was more than 4%.
