Tax authorities are looking for violations in the rental market in Greece

Owners and property managers in the short-term rental market will be under the radar of tax inspectors, looking to identify those who avoid declaring or under-reporting income. Since the turnover of this market in 2022 exceeded 2.2 billion euros, the tax administration plans to reconcile the rent with the declared data. The numbers will be compared with those from Airbnb, Booking.com and Expedia Group’s Vrbo. It is expected that owners who provided inaccurate information will be called to the tax office for clarification.
