The Italian government has announced its intentions to introduce rules for short-term rentals

The changes are designed to combat overtourism and the housing crisis. According to Italian law, any rental period of 30 days or less falls under the category of short-term rentals. This means that the innovation will affect a wide range of tourism rental businesses, including platforms such as Airbnb and even villa rentals.

The main points of the law that will restrict Airbnb and similar services are: the introduction of a minimum stay requirement (2 nights) and the introduction of a new identification code system for real estate listings.
