Despite falling a few spots on the 2023 list, both cities still rank in the top 10 most livable cities on Earth. They received excellent marks for health and education and equal marks for infrastructure and stability. Interestingly, although both cities scored very well, they lagged behind the leaders (Vienna, Copenhagen, Melbourne and others) when it came to infrastructure scores – something Swiss media blamed on the high cost of living and the low availability of apartments and houses for rent. Vienna was recognized as the “City of Dreams”, just like last year. The Austrian capital is praised for its reliable public transport, outstanding educational and health facilities, and wide range of cultural events and entertainment options.
