A mansion called Casa Encantada, which claims to be the record holder for the most expensive property on the American market, is now offered at a huge discount. Previously, they asked for 250 million dollars, now – only 195 million. Despite the price reduction of $55 million, it still remains a record not only for Los Angeles, but for the United States as a whole.
The luxurious home in Bel Air was built in 1937 by the famous Russian-born architect James Dolena for the widow of a multimillionaire glazier, Hilda Weber. In the 1950s, it was purchased by hotel magnate Conrad Hilton, followed by several other eminent owners.
The total area of the ultra-luxury property exceeds 3.2 hectares. The main house has 7 bedrooms. The master suite alone measures 325 square meters and has its own living rooms and bathrooms. The entrance hall with 5.5-meter-high ceilings, a wide staircase, several dining and living rooms, a bar, and a library decorated with wood panels and stucco are impressive with their elegance. In addition to the house itself, on the territory there is a swimming pool, a pavilion with a cinema hall, a sports ground, a tennis court, a tropical botanical garden and a rose garden.
Relatively recently, the estate was restored to museum level with the participation of professional restorers. It has twice become the most expensive house in its history and is considered one of the most important examples of Los Angeles architecture.
