The volume of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Slovenia at the end of 2022 amounted to 20.2 billion euros, which is 7.6% more than a year earlier

Austria is the largest investor, accounting for 22.7% of FDI at the end of last year, with investments mainly in manufacturing, trading, vehicle maintenance and repair. Luxembourg comes in second place with 11.6%, with the majority of its investments in finance and insurance. Switzerland is in third place with 11.3%, with most of its investment in manufacturing. Meanwhile, Slovenian direct investment abroad increased by EUR 700 million, or 9.2%, to EUR 8.6 billion. Croatia, which accounts for almost a third of all investments, is the most attractive destination, thanks in no small part to property purchases and retail investments.
